Although they've been a songwriting partnership for the last 5 years, only recently have Mark Mulch and Richie Scholl joined forces, to form the country/southern rock act - “Mulch & Scholl”.
Mark’s former band “The Mulch Brothers” had radio success in 2008 in the form of a hit song on Sirius/XM Satellite when their program director chose to add the song "Love Run Wild" from the band's debut EP "Dig It Y'All" to regular rotation!
The ballad "Steal You Away" which became a single for Universal Recording artist's The Randy Rogers Band, and spent 7 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Texas Music Charts was just the beginning of success for the band and this special song. The song was also featured in the motion picture "Country Strong". The title track off their last EP "Lucky You" is featured in the Lifetime TV movie "12 Men of Christmas" starring Kristen Chenoweth.
In 2013 - The Mulch Brothers released their debut EP for the label EFG Entertainment Group in late July entitled "Next of Kin". Produced with Jim Kimball (Reba, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw) Radio success struck again with several stations around the country picking up and playing the first single "Pushin' Up Daisies" as well as the follow up "I Ain't Ever Comin' Back". They even had some radio play in Australia and Germany!
Incidentally, Australia is where Richie Scholl, the other half of “Mulch & Scholl” hails from!
Born and raised in the cattle, coal, and rail town of Rockhampton, in Queensland, Australia, Richie Scholl started playing bars and clubs, literally a few months after first picking up a guitar at age 13. Richie released his first album of completely original music in 2002.
It wasn’t until meeting with well respected Australian producer Michael Flanders in early 2006 however, that things started happening for Richie. Work was scheduled to begin on a second album, “The Blacktop Junkie’s Guide To Richie Scholl” almost immediately. This album resulted in #1, “Blacktop Junkie” and #5, “Madison County” singles on Country radio, and a #35 video on.
During the recording of the album, the decision was made to introduce Richie Scholl and his music to the U.S market. Richie relocated to Nashville, TN in early 2007.
It wasn’t long after landing in town, that Richie’s soon found himself on tour with national acts like Jason Michael Carroll, Chuck Wicks and Lo Cash. Richie started writing material for what would become his third album, “One Step At A Time” which was released January 2011. 2013 saw the release of two singles, and videos. “Good Goodbye” (written by Mark and Richie), and “Last Song”.
Richie’s latest album “Southern” was released late 2016. It features 10 country/southern rock tracks, and is available on iTunes, and all other digital outlets. The first single of the album “Summer Road” available on iTunes, was penned by Richie and Mark.
